Big News Story On Formula Vs. Breastmilk?

I saw a big story on my local news channel last night, about breastfeeding vs. formula feeding…it was kind of scary. It said that long-term health problems are being linked to formula feeding, that before the study wasn’t even thought of. They said it was because a human’s first year of life determines a lot of health issues down the road in life. They asked random people on the street which they thought was healthier, breast or bottle, and one person even said they thought formula was because the ‘new’ kinds they have out have nutrients that breastmilk doesn’t. Is there something I don’t know? They said of course the woman was wrong, but still, breastmilk DOES have all they need, and then some right? I got confused pretty quick. Heheh! People kep stressing to me that breastmilk is the best start for your baby, and apparently 10 years down the road it’ll pay off, but these formula commercials (even though say ‘breastmilk is best at the bottom) make it seem like it’s just as good…
I’m on the fence about it, almost like if I gave my daughter formula I’d feel really guilty since I have perfectly good milk for her. If she only has a bottle a week of formula does that count? My goal is for her never to have formula…but it would make it easier on me to give her one once in a while…
